Something new....

Hey everybody,  I was just thinking it might be fun to try something a little new on here, and I'm hoping you'll all be willing to play along.
There are a lot of us here, with a lot of memories about Nana and Gramps, Dad & Ann, and Mom.  And there are a lot of us who don't have any or at least very little knowledge or memories of them. In an effort to find out about and keep a record of our heritage, why don't we start posting some of our memories and questions?
And since I'm not sure how regularly all of us look at the Meeks Messenger, if you're reading this, maybe you could mention it to the others in your family to take a look and leave a comment.

I was just thinking the other day about Nana's house on Butler Circle in Murray.  I remember climbing and picking cherries in the tree out front, and the stone bird bath in the back yard.  The house had a unique smell inside.  Kind of a mixture of old people, peanuts, and steamed brocolli. I always thought it was funny that they called dinner "supper" and ate it very early in the day.  You could always find gingersnaps, rice crispies, fig newtons and clover club potato chips to eat there. The front room was mostly green with a couch made out of wood that I want to say looked like bamboo, but I'm not sure if it really was.  and matching green cushions, and pillows with large flowers stitched on them.  Next to the door was Gramps' chair next to the old fashioned radio.  I remember a pale yellow for the rest of the house, and thought it was strange that Nana and Gramps each had their own bedroom.  Gramps had one of those hula girls on his dresser - the kind you see on dashboards now- that really hula when you nudge them with the tip of your finger.  If you were a kid looking for something to do, there was a set of legos, or coloring books in the hidden desk with in the book cases in the back room, somewhere among the cardinal music boxes and the corn husk dolls.  If you were really lucky, Gramps might let you look at his pocket knife collection which he kept in a tin pail in the closet.  There was a stair case in that back room leading down stairs to Gramps' chiropractic office.

What do you remember about Nana and Gramps' house?
